Where is the best place to pick a pumpkin in Broward County, is a very common question.

 
While I feel I need to clarify "pumpkin picking" in South Florida, as it should be interpreted as "picking out a pumpkin placed in piles on grassy fields". Picking pumpkins has nothing to do with picking something that is still growing. South Florida pumpkin patches are made by bring pumpkins grown someplace else to our semi-tropical unfriendly pumpkin growing climate and laying them out in piles with hay for families in tank tops and flip flops to search and gather the perfect carving canvas for their front step. Nonetheless, its fall, and pumpkins need to be picked (out)!

It seems like every family in Broward County heads to Flamingo Road Nursery for a pumpkin. It seems like that because it is PACKED. They have a nice selection of pumpkins, face painting, pumpkin painting, and a hayride. You will spend much of your day fighting crowds and waiting for the hayride.

My favorite place to pick out a pumpkin and get some cute "fall" like pictures of my kids is just down the road from Flamingo Road Nursery at New Horizon United Methodist Church. They have a great big open field that allows families to spread out and capture great pictures. They also have wagons on site to help you cart around your best pumpkin finds. My family and I have been getting our pumpkins there for years. Although, they don't offer the face painting, pumpkin painting, or hayrides like other places, they do offer the best pumpkins in Broward County, and the proceeds go to the church, so its a Win-Win!
